The California Coalition for Youth (CCY) is a 35 year-old statewide grassroots nonprofit organization serving disconnected youth, runaway and homeless youth. Our mission is to provide improve and empower the lives of California’s youth. CCY does this as a statewide leader by advocating for public policies, programs and services that respect, empower and protect the rights of all youth. We take positions on, and mobilize our members to advocate for – or – against, legislation that is likely to have a significant, widespread effect on youth in California.

We also operate the California Youth Crisis Line (CYCL), a statewide emergency response system for youth, manned by professionally-trained staff and volunteers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CYCL fields more than 20,000 calls annually, providing crisis counseling and resource referrals to callers in their communities.

Every year in May, the California Coalition for Youth participates in the Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s Big Day of Giving. An initiative to grow local philanthropy, Big Day of Giving is a 24-hour online giving challenge that brings together the region’s nonprofit community to help raise much needed unrestricted funds and shine a spotlight on the work nonprofits do to make the Sacramento region the place we call home.
